Argentina won! As you may know, soccer is the most popular sport in all South American countries. There are other sports here, but none of them compare to soccer, and that is especially true in Argentina. In November and December the World Cup was played in Qatar. With 3.3 billion viewers (more than a third of the world’s population), the World Cup is the second most-viewed sporting event in the world. This year Argentina won the World Cup, and there is no way to describe the effect that this has had on the people here. The entire country is united in celebration.
The End Of The Year: We have ended the year at Victory Baptist Church with several special services. The young people had their youth banquet, and I preached on “Things I Learned This Year.” Also we ended a sermon series on Thursday nights about Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. The last sermon in the series was on the 22nd, and after the service we played games and enjoyed some good food. This year we saw many families come to Christ. It was a joy to look around and see so many new people who were not present last December.
Next Year: Some big things are planned for this next year. The third week of the year will be our youth camp. We are expecting more campers this year than last. In February we will be having our second family conference. Please be in prayer for these big events.
